Ok I found the you tube video. Eating something that has razor sharp edges
doesn't turn me on :0) I think I am going to order some and see if I can get a
jump on the grasshoppers in the garden. I think I am going to try it on the
veggies.

razor sharp edges of the diatom remains. The sharp edges lacerate the bugs

I've been using DE for myself and the dogs for 4 years. I got my usage advise
from www.wolfcreekranch.com
I use it as a preventative, before I have a problem. It goes everywhere, dusted
in the yard, kennels, garden, around the outside of the house, basements, in
any
corner I think it will not be seen, even under the carpets. I don't vacuum it
up
at all. Getting wet does not affect its effectiveness, and it does not break
down. Some people mix it with water or paint and paint it around trees to keep
ants from crawling on the trees.
Very seldom do I actually put it on the dogs. First because it leaves a white
powdery mess on my very dark dogs. Second mostly because they are being
washed/rinsed down at least twice a week during show season, so it would be a
waste. The DE is to kill the population before they get on the dogs, the neem
oil spray keeps bugs off, and the washing gets anything that might have been
missed.
The rare occasion I put it on the dog, I just left it on.
I feed my dogs one heaping teaspoon once a day, everyday. It has a tendency to
adsorb meds out of the intestines, so when I'm giving Ivomec or some
supplement,
I give them at separate meals.
I swear by this stuff, for myself and the dogs, especially to keep down the fly
and spider population. Now that I've got these darn chickens, I'm afraid to
spray a little bug spray, so my whole yard is powdered with DE.

To all of you who have successfully used Diatomaceous Earth, I would really
like your detailed usage methods for success...The question has been asked
before and either it was answered privately or just generally on this list.
..So as to not take up space, private responses would be appreciated...I
am aware of the properties of DE and that it has to be FOOD quality, but
what I need to know are the conditions under which it is successful in
eliminating fleas, internal parasites etc...Do you put down as soon as you
have
an
infestation or do you clear the infestation first with the usual
chemicals... and then going forward use the DE... I have had some people who
have
used it and they said that it really did not make any difference. I am
looking to use it instead of my normal usage of Frontline etc... I understand
that you put it down around your kennel areas and/or dog houses and inside on
your floors/carpet and dog crates etc...my question is after you put it
down, how long do you leave it before vacuuming it?...does dampness (such as
rain etc) inhibit its effectiveness? When you put it on the dog
itself...again, do you just leave it on? how long before you bathe the dog?
How
frequently do you apply it? As to when you give it orally for internal
parasites, do you give it every day? or is there a specific time frame and if
so,
how often do you repeat the dosage? I told the person who said it did not
work for her, that maybe she did not correctly apply it...and since I do
not know, I am asking those who use it successfully the details...without
the details of a successful application, there is a great deal of room for
error in whether or not it will work for you... THANKS in advance, your
