I don't understand what our congresspeople have to do with this. Didn't
Reagan deregulate the airlines many moons ago?
I also heard that US Air is reconsidering allowing dogs in cargo, at least
as excess baggage.

I don't know how many of you are paying attention to the possible
merger of Delta and US Airways. But everyone needs to start emailing
their congressmen immediately. Congress will be looking at the
possible merger this Wed. If they approve it we lose.
What you may not realize is if US Airlines buys Delta they will no
longer be shipping dogs. And that effects an awful lot of us.
When US Airways was bought out by America West Airlines (who kept the
US Airways name) They stopped taking cargo shipments of all dogs.
America West will not ship dogs. They have very limited routes that
will allow you to travel with your pet IF and only IF it can fit
under the seat. Most shelties don't fit that category. And they will
not take a crate in cargo even if you are on that flight.
If Delta gets taken over by US Airways our options for shipping dogs
are going to dwindle real quick. And I'm sure the prices will go up
for the lack of competition.
So please feel free to post this to other lists. It's really
important to let your congressmen know we are NOT in favor of the
merger.
