As in any organization, the good intentions and goodwill of the members goes a
long way to the effectiveness or (ineffectiveness) of the organization.
Effective organizations are "safe environments" where participants can have
good discussion(everyone does not have to agree) but then they point their
noses in the same direction for the greater good. That's how 2+2=5(synergy) and
not -ve 5. Along with right intentions and attitude, it must be accompanied by
constant evaluation of our bylaws, procedures and processes to make sure they
are up to date, meet the needs of the membership and are continually trying to
improve the status of the breed. Doing the latter in an organization rife
with turmoil and confusion and infighting is an almost impossible task.
Maybe i am pointing out the obvious, if so, why can't we seem to operate in
this manner.
I believe most people who participate in this, tlove this breed and the "sport"
and while i am encouraged that our we have some excellent representatives of
the breed we are all struggling with the decline in participation. Those who
aren't are being very short sighted IMHO.

...last year 600 members left the club...snip...and no I will not tell you
who my two deep throats are...
This is absolutely incorrect. At this point in 2005 we are 72 members ahead
of last year. The 600 figure was a count of people who had not renewed as
of Jan 1st. Of those, 245 have since renewed and the "one year member"
loss has been substantially decreased. Kudos to Dania and her membership
committee for personally calling the non-renewing members. Good work guys!
You do not have to tell anyone who your two deep throats are...I know who
they are and so do many others. They are the cowards who sit on the Board
and complain. They are ineffective directors who do not know how to gain
support for programs. They sit and whine about being defeated at every turn.
They are afraid to post for themselves so they feed controversial and often
incorrect or morphed information to the list SHILLS. Everyone knows who the
shills are also. Those that always seem to know things that no one else
knows....or before any one else know it...
