And then on the news this morning, they announced a recall of ground beef
and hamburger patties sold for human consumption at several local grocery
stores and chains. Several CHILDREN in the Western States have been
sickened from apparent e. coli contamination.

All of these recalls are sooo upsetting !! You find out what you are
feeding
was contaminated, so you change. Then you find the holistic food you just
purchased, is also contaminated.. Last month with the canned food scare, I
came
EXTREMELY close to losing my new young CH male. I had picked up some grocery
store cans of meat, to mix with his kibble. He was not eating with all the
girls
in season. A few days later he had projectile vomiting (large amount of
water), but seemed to feel good. Was fence running, and happy. He did not
eat
anything. Next morning same thing, projectile water (lots), but was
lethargic. Off
to my vet. He ran tests, did x rays, put him on IV for dehydration etc. Temp
normal, vital signs good, but was clearly feeling worse, so off to the
emergency Clinic...By the time we got there (afternoon) he was in distress.
More
tests... The emergency clinic vet was on top of the dog food crisis. My boy
had all
the symptoms... They flushed his kidneys, and god knows what else, he was a
very sick guy..He was clearly near death the first couple of days. He spent
over a week in the hospital hitched up to IV's, and monitors. It took
another
week to start him eating food again. He came home ALIVE..It's been a slow
process
getting better. he lost 17 pounds..He is now back to normal (a month later)
happy, and feeling great !! I am truly blessed. It has been one of the
scariest experiences I have had in dogs.. I had a woman buy a bitch puppy a
couple
weeks ago. She was not as lucky..She had the same thing happen to the bitch
she
was replacing. Unfortunately, they did not save hers.. I am very fortunate
to
have mine home !!! I hope this all ends soon.. Susie
