Our experience at 4 Paws is that the DNA tests today are pretty darn
amazing. In fact recently when we were unsure of which male sired a litter
we sent off the DNA as one sire was a Lab and one was a Golden. The Mom was
a Lab of European lines (White English Cream) Not only did they tell us the
Dam was a European Labrador Retriever, but they also showed the sire as a
European Golden Retriever. In another instance they confirmed the Mom of
another litter as an American Golden and the Dad as a European Golden. I
found this remarkable that they could not only tell the breed but where the
dog was from geographically with NOTHING but a blood sample and no
information on the dogs at all. I think it depends on who you use. There are
a bunch of crazy ones in magazines and such but we use the WISDOM test

Sable GSDs
Black & red GSDs
Bi-color GSDs
Any and all other colors of GSDs?
Or is the test flawed as are the DM and Coat tests?

So please tell me why AKC-GSDCA and the white GSDs dog breeding keep saying
it is in the DNA? Since the AKC has never required proof of parentage by
DNA of the parents who really knows for sure.
