It is very simple. They cannot produce a gene that they do not carry.

Same thing with inbreeding or close linebreeding. It will not "grow" or
cause a genetic problem that is not already there!

An OFA clear animal can NOT produce OFA At Risk (homozygous) progeny.

An OFA homozygous (At Risk) animal can NOT have an OFA clear parent.
It is mathematically impossible! Period. Read any published work of Gregor
Mendel.
His laws form the theoretical basis of our understanding of the genetics of
inheritance.
   It isn't rocket science!!

And, OFA does NOT publish ANY abnormal results unless the animal's owner
signs the specific release to do so. For example, on the hip submission form,
it says, "Authorization to Release Abnormal Results
I hereby authorize the OFA to release the results of its radiographic
evaluation of the animal described on this application to the public if the
results are abnormal_______________ (initials of registered owner)."

If Gehren's parents were both carriers - genetically you would have a
ratio of 1 clear, 2 carriers and one at risk, so it would be possible,
Gehren's sir could be "AT RISK, thus all puppies would be carriers if Dam was
clear.!!
