Had a similar experience.
Had a bitch years ago that our Vets ( who X-rayed many OFA dogs) thought
would clear OFA easily. Came back as DJD on one elbow. Had several Vets
read the X-ray including UCDavis, and the only thing they could figure out
that made OFA unhappy was that there was a tiny slight "pimple" looking
bump about 2 inches down from the joint on her leg bone.
Nowhere NEAR the joint! The joint was fine!
( why they called that DJD is beyond our Vets and our understanding )
With the DJD the co owner spayed her....and worked her in heavy Agility
competition till she was almost 10 yrs.
Had her re-X-rayed at 6 yrs...NO changes.

Years ago I had a bitch that had pano when she was older, almost 2 years. I
took her to an orthopedic specialist and was diagnosed as pano. When it came
time to OFA she came back with DJD on one elbow. Once she got through the
pano she never limped again. For some reason she was x-rayed around 6 and
the vet said the shading was there in the elbow but it pretty much looked
the same as when she was 2. So if it's called Degenerative Joint Disease it
sure didn't change in 4 years.
