I personally feed raw, but I do know lots of people that cook for the dogs. 
Most of what they do is:
1 large stock pot
1 whole chicken (you can find deals regularily, trust me, I know).
 
Boil up the chicken so it almost falls apart, add assorted veggies (stay away 
from celery and onions), and some garlic... Puree it in a food processor and 
save it in plastic contains and freeze... 
 
I do feed raw, but you see deals at grocery stores all the time for various 
meats. You can also talk to the local butches about what they might have and it 
doesn't all have to be chicken. There are tons and tons of things you can throw 
in... Chicken is probably the best as the bone breaks down and you can just 
puree it too.
 
Personally, if I didn't do raw, I would definately do cooked... Although I do 
have a bag of Pro Plan in the house, I prefer to feed the girls real food.
