They are one of the best for shipping dogs alone.....we willingly use them.
But .........I sure don't like them now to fly WITH the dog.   <G>

  I think what Continental means is that they take animals to the staging area
  by van not by open air cart.  They are one of a very, very few that can fly
  dogs in extreme weather when not accompanied.
  When other airlines have embargos on due to extreme hot and or cold
  Continental can handle by use of heated or A/C vans.  The animals are
  transported by ground from Cargo to the staging area  where the animal wait
  until loaded into controlled temps. rather than wafting on the open air
  carts exposed to extremes.

  We have shipped Continental Airline to different areas for years and flown
  WITH the dogs on
  Continental.     They do not have any more "outstanding service" for the
  dogs than any other
  airline.   They fly in the same Cargo area.....go through Cargo....loaded
  the same and handled
  the same as any other airline.   When you take them to Cargo they sit there
  just like any other
  airline.
  I don't know what they mean by "expedited service from the aircraft to the
  Terminal"  because
  they no longer allow the dog to go through the terminal with you.   They
  haven't for years.....

  The REAL problem I have with Continental now is that they are one of the few
  airlines that
  charges FULL FEE for a dog to fly with you  ( which is usually more than we
  pay for ourselves )
  and they will not allow the dog to go through the Terminal with you.    IF
  you are flying with the
  dog that adds almost another hour of time for you to get the dog booked in
  by the time you go
  around to Cargo and get them checked in ahead of time and then get yourself
  back up to the
  Terminal to get yourself checked in in plenty of time.
  Same with landing......you cannot pick them up at the Terminal....you have
  to get your car and then
  go looking for Cargo for Continental to get your dog.
  More money....longer check in time and longer getting out of the airport.

    Dog with it's erect ears tends to put them into larger crates than they
  actually need.

    Continental feels (due to customer feedback) that they provide outstanding

    As I stated, I tried to obtain a discount for those taking multiple dogs
  to the Beaumont National - to no avail. They will be charge the full fees.
  They are looking into the possibility for those identifying themselves as
  attending the National of providing them with a group discounted rate for
  their flight.
    That's dogs must pay full fare and people possibly discounted.
