Hi everyone: at this time of the season my thoughts turn to the spirit
of giving. Giving equals happiness for me. I don't have much to give,
but I do what I can. So I've been thinking about our German Shepherd
community.......especially the children and the rescue dogs. "What
could my measly couple of dollars do for anyone," I ask myself. So I'm
turning to the community that I'd like to give back to and see if you'd
like to join me in making some children's and the fur kids dreams come
true this holiday season. I'm doing a 50-50 chance which will be
donated as follows: 50% of the collection will be given to the children
of the German Shepherd dog fancy and the other 50% will go to Dawn's
"Last Hope, Safe Haven" rescue. Here's how I propose it to work (any
suggestions will gladly be appreciated): 50% goes to Dawn's rescue and
the other 50% will be divided among as many children as we can give it
to. For example, if we collect $500, $250 will go to Dawn's rescue.
The remaining $250 will be divided up among several children (to be
decided by you.....do we give each child $10, $15, $20 or what)? Many
families find it hard this time of year to buy their children a gift. I
thought it would be nice to help them out. Isn't that what this season
is all about? We could assign a number to each person who donates
money to this effort along with the name of a child they'd like to see
the money go to. Then around the 20th of the month, we'd pick the
winners. I would ask someone who did not donate to choose numbers for
me without them knowing who they belong to and those numbers would be
the recipients of the money. What do you all think about this idea?
You can donate anything from $1 to whatever you'd like. The sooner we
get this started, the more we'll have to give to the children of the
German Shepherd community and to Dawn's rescue. Love to hear what you
think about this. I don't know about you, but it does my heart good.
Best wishes, Barbara
