Latest that I've heard (on PBS) is that dogs do see colour but don't have
the red cones in their eyes, so they see shades of green and blue only. I
find that odd as I had one bitch that reacted whenever my neighbour's
daughter wore red plaid pants. Any other item of clothing was fine, except
those pants. The other thing that the PBS special mentioned is that their
vision isn't as good as ours for stationary items but that their peripheral
vision is much sharper than ours which is why they'll see a chipmunk running
in the bush but not notice their dumbbell lying right in front of them :-)

call me crazy, but I swear one of my dogs notices bright colors and the
others don't seem too. So are GSDs/dogs color blind, or is that just an old
wives tale, or is their any new research out there to support they are or
they aren't? curious little minds want to know and I don't have the answer,
