Years ago I did a match in Denver. I stayed with Peg and John Palermo in Bailey (alt above 8500'). I awoke before the sun rose...edgy...nervous...but awake so I thought I would take a walk. Leisurely pace but 1/2 an hour at least. I turned around and as the sun was rising I noticed I had been walking "downhill". It didn't dawn on me until every muscle in my body was screaming for oxygen that exertion at that altitude can be devastating. I joke that I crawled the last 200 yds. pulling myself along by saplings growing along side the road. It was ugly and an experience I will never forget. I was exhausted and it wasn't even 7 AM.
