It has nothing to do with dirt - but with surviving in wet weather. Again, I
herd frequently with a friend and her coated bitch. It is not a problem id dry
weather, but in the wet (we do c-course so are out there for a couple of hours
at a time) her dog soaks to the skin and gets cold while my dog just shakes the
wet off and stays dry close to the skin. The coat has beautiful structure and
is fit enough for the work, but her coat is not weather resistant.
The briards we work with have very weather resistant coats. GSDs should be
weather resistent unless they live in climate controlled environments.

more dirt than Bull, it amazed me...but I did call then Oscar and Phelix..
