Makes sense, I said that because a breeder friend of mine who has berners told
me if the coat is damp they can get hot spots.? To be honest I don't completely
dry mine either unless its really cold and "knock on wood" I haven't had a hot
spot in years!!!!!!!?? It has been so long ago that I did have one but I don't
remember there being an issue with skin problems.? I find that an interesting
concept.

I'm going to open a can of worms here, but I come from the school that skin
issues, excessive scratching, licking, a tendency towards hot spots are
genetic. I've never had a hot spot from leaving a dog damp or not getting one
bone dry after coming in from the rain.
Now, maybe if I had a dog with the above indications, I'd be more wary of
leaving them damp....who knows?
The reason I don't get them bone dry is to avoid drying out their skin, much
the same way too many hot baths and not enough humidity dry our skin in the
winter:)
