Helen,
It was also just pointed out to me that the board voted to indemnify the
defendants, which means pay their legal fees. If this lawsuit goes on
awhile, it could eat up all of that $95,000!
I would hate that to happen and honestly don't think it will get to that
point, but it's something we should keep in the back of our minds.

Helen, I think an audit is in order before we celebrate. I am sure the
financially we are very sound, but, even in my work I don't believe numbers
until they are verified. I hope indeed that we are in that great shape
financially!!!

At this time of the year,we all tend to look back over the past
year,wondering if we accomplished all we had intended to,and reflect on
both the high
and low points . Unfortunately ,for our GSDCA ,2007 was it's worst year
since
the club was first founded. Between the Hunte fiasco,the inexcusable law
suit, and the frivolous charges made against President Lew Bunch and his
2007
Board.it nearly destroyed us. Members vowed not to renew, and some actually
resigned. Then I happened to look the wonderful new GSDCA website. How
could
our President Lew and the Board be charged with wrongdoing ,and
mismanagement
of our club , and still leave the GSDCA in the best financial condition
we've ever been in. Go check that Bottom Line. Look at those numbers!! In
2006,the club made $95,229--- the highest yearly profit in GSDCA History.!!
The 2007
books are not closed yet,nor audited,but a big profit is again expected.
Yes,bad mistakes were made,but obviously with no intent to deliberately
harm
the GSDCA . We should be thankful that we had a strong B/F committee( Gary
Szymczak, as chair),and that committee chairs kept within their budgets.
And our
President Lew,getting additional funding from Purina,and Royal Canine. He
got
Royal Canine to support 25 of our regional clubs to enable the to have
their
shows,and has a contract for to do the same for 35 clubs in 2008. And it
was our President that got Purina to sponsor our Nationals,and donate all
the
Futurity-Maturity trophies for the Regional clubs,saving them money. Lots
of
good things occurred. Think about it - some of this group--the 2007 BOD
,all
of them volunteers ,are being sued,and charged with mismanagement of the
GSDCA--Absolutely absurd. Lets wipe the slate clean, start the new year
positively, and give our new Board a chance . Helen Miller Fisher
