Well I do and my contract says if not spayed or neutered by the age of 1
year I can reposes the dog with the sheriff and they will incur all cost
involved. and they sign , I sign and there are two witness that sign. and a
non-breeding registration too. and I encourage them to spay and neuter
between 6 and 8 months , I don't care about any thing else these are pets
not show dogs, they will be cleaner and better pets if the are neutered.
and yes I have lost pet sales over this especially men who want the big
intact male and take it very personal to neuter their dog. but so be it. and
I have to have a copy of the spay neuter certificate when the dog is 1 year
old or I am there checking on it. Usually all it takes is a phone call and
I have the paper work within a week or ten days .

Papers, shmapers. It matters not to some BYB's. There are dozens of BYB's of
GSD's out my way. More times than not they advertise of having "Champions"
in the lines. Having gone skulking around pretending I am a buyer with no
brains I can tell you there are indeed Ch's in the lines. Bitches and dogs
were bought with papers and generations later....well you get the picture.
If the companion pups sold are not up to the standard of the breed, why not
early spay or neuter?? I know I know, I've heard all the arguments about
bones not growing as they should etc. Or is it the money factor? Or both?
Private rescues are so inundated that you'd be hard pressed to find a rescue
that does NOT early spay and neuter. They, the SPCA's and shelters and
pounds after all are the ones that deal with the flood of unwanted adults
and puppies. Perhaps if the breeders of these dogs and puppies were to walk
in the shoes of these organizations, they too would be for early
spay/neuter.
Out of curiosity, how many here do home checks? And for what reasons would
you deny someone a dog/pup?
