Thanks so much for your efficiency Margery.
If EVERY Board Member would just TRY to book their flight with a # 500 crate to
each site that is being considered......it surely would open some eyes and save
time
and money!!! Wonderful sites don't mean a thing if we can't get there with
dogs.
If they are not near a main hub we are making it difficult to impossible for
many
of those that have to fly a dog in to the national.
NO MAIN HUB means connecting flights.
Most Airlines that take dogs are now contracting out their connecting flights
to
Airlines
with smaller aircraft on one of the connecting flights. It's NOT working for
dogs!
Things have changed.........the Committee's thinking needs to change.....
None of us like it.........but we must work with it.

I got excited when I first read about the Kansas City site, but
unfortunately, tonight I did some checking on air travel to Kansas City from
points around the country, and it is not encouraging. Kansas City is not a
hub airport.

From Ft. Lauderdale ( started there since I live there ), there are no
direct flights, and no direct flights from Orlando. No direct flights from
Boston. From LaGuardia, the only direct flights appear) to be two per day
Midwest, on Boeing 717 aircraft (which is not on Nancy's chart so I don't
know the door opening size, no direct flights from LAX. There is more of a
selection of direct flights from Chicago and Atlanta.

I checked via Orbitz - perhaps someone else can check in an alternative
database, and if there is better news, let us know.

Aside from the potential transport issue, it sounds like a wonderful site,
but it appears that, from many of the furthest away parts of the country,
there are few if any direct flights.

I'll probably be sorry I got in this again.......but I think people took Amy
Sadfir
wrong.
She really was RIGHT ON!
The National does not have to be in the CENTER of the Country.....the
National does
not have to be in the North, or the South or the West. It CAN be set at
ONE
location
or it can be set in SEVERAL locations. It can be set Central or Northern
or
Southern
or Western or Eastern locations and it CAN BE ROTATED!! None of that is
the issue.

THE ONE SINGLE THING THAT SHOULD BE THE MAJOR FORCE ON THIS DECISION,
IS CAN EVERY SINGLE PERSON WITH A DOG GET TO THE NATIONAL!!! Thats IT!!
That's what makes it a "NATIONAL" dog show!!
The ONLY WAY THAT CAN BE DONE in todays climate with the Airlines is to
have it alongside MAIN HUB AIRPORTS FOR AIRLINES THAT DO TAKE DOGS!!

The List is not long......it's just TOO EASY. The Airlines that take dogs
probably
can
be counted on one hand and their main hubs probably can be counted on one
hand. HOW DIFFICULT CAN THAT BE???!!!! Until that is the FIRST consideration
for those that have to fly......we have a
problem!
This is not about personal choices and personal comfort....this is a
"NATIONAL" dog
show
EVERY YEAR! Make it easy TO GET THERE WITH A DOG FROM EVERYWHERE, EVERY
YEAR!!
