Almost any dog can be poorly paired with the wrong owner, either through buyer ignorance , machismo, or breeder apathy. It is a disaster usually for the dog. I have seen dozens of cases where a too high drive or too tough GSD has been placed with a buyer (usually a John Q family setting) at 8 weeks only to have FRANKENSTEIN at 16 to 18 weeks.....as far as I am concerned the breeders doing this should be shot. They are about the almighty buck...not about matching dog to owner and in the end...dog loses. The Ovcharka (and there are three distinct varieties) while an amazing ancient breed, is NOT, repeat NOT for everyone. In fact not for MOST. Check them out though, they are fascinating and beautiful.
