Sara, let me see if I can explain.. I know that everybody is trying to

What in nature is perfect? Nothing, right? Well, there is no perfect
dog, either (unless she in on my bed, of course).

Sooo, the standard is that mythical "Perfect Dog." A judge in the
AKC, UKC, FICA, whatever, ring takes that picture of "Perfection" that
he or she has in the head and compares the dog in the ring to that
picture. The one that comes closest is the one that gets the finger
point.

HOWVER... as there is no Perfect Dog, there is no Perfect Judge, either.

So, we humans struggle along working at the picture in our heads,
after looking at hundreds of dogs, real and in photos, measure the
length of the dog, measure the angles, etc. ad infinitum, and
somewhere along the way, we imperfect humans look at our dog/dogs and
test our picture against numerous judges. Sometimes we are right for
ONE judge and not right for ANOTHER judge. Remember, we haven't found
the perfect judge for our perfect dog <VBG>

It isn't "interpretation" for different venues, but what us imperfect
humans interpret the standard.
