Hmmm...."honor the standard". What does that really mean? The problem is that
everyone has their OWN interpretation of the standard and everyone thinks they
are right. Each group feels that THEIR representation of the breed is the
correct one......
I am currently working on changing my attitude to include a lot of different
german shepherds as being "the standard" and still correct....even if they are
doing different things.
I am *starting* to discover that a show dog can be breed standard; a schutzhund
dog can be breed standard; same for performance dogs, SAR, military/police,
companions, therapy dogs, etc..they can all look slightly different and yet
still honor the breed standard.
But, I am still learning- so take my opinion for what it is worth! :-)
