      Canned dog food recalled

  By 11 News Staff Reports
  Fifteen varieties of canned dog food manufactured by Simmons Pet Food are
under Food and Drug Administration recall due to linings separating from the
inside of the cans, officials said Tuesday.
  Simmons Pet Food initiated a voluntary withdrawal from distribution June
12.
  The affected products are being removed from retail shelves.
  The Office of the Texas State Chemist will perform store inspections to
ensure the product has been removed, said Dr. Tim Herrman, state chemist and
director.
  Fourteen field investigators across the state are assisting in the
inspection process, he said.
