My black, a czech dog, has this. It is my first solid black, but was assured

CLOSE UP.....has the tan
"sprinklings" of hair
between their toesand above their hocks and behind
their pasterns. ( typically NOT
under the tail )I'm told it is sun
bleaching. You often see this also
on solid black horses around the muzzle and loin if you
get up close.
You have to get up close.
Also...you don't see this on them when they are
puppies. Thisis not an actual marking....just
some sprinklings of color.The most famous breeder of black
GSD years ago wrote an article for the Review 100 yrs ago
when the Review was a whole different
magazine. She said the only way
to eliminate this was to breed a couple ofgenerations of solid black to
solid black. PS...she did not advise anyone
doing that as then you would be just breeding for a

you explan this? I have had
lots of bi-color shepherds in my lifetime, but very few (
two I believe) solid blacks... The two blacks I have now I
got as puppies , don't believe they have close relatives
in their pedigrees, but I could be wrong, one is about 4
years old, and the other is under 2 years, they both have
brownish silvery hairs on the lowers back and inside of both
hind legs! Now here is the really big mystery! The bitch has
tan under her tail (anus).... Now when I got her the tan
anus was BLACK! Is she now a bi-color? Did she join a gang,
and get a tan tattoo ? What in the wide world of sports is
going on here? "Me" is very very confused! Maybe
it's her diet.. lol FB
