The only dogs that I've had that stayed solid black were dogs that were
East German, or crosses of them. Any American GSD that was black always
had the tan sprinkling.

Interesting they show an Australian Shepherd as being dominant black.
Herding breeds as a whole have the recessive black gene, as they are able
to express tan points. While I'm not sure about the Border Collie, Aussies
are recessive black- they come in tricolor, and bicolor (black & white) is
recessive to the tricolor- regardless of if its black or liver.
Does anyone know about the black of the border collie, as they herding
breeds, and share common ancestry with herding breeds who express the
recessive black?

have had lots of bi-color shepherds in my lifetime, but very

have now I got as puppies , don't believe they have
close relatives in their pedigrees, but I could be wrong,

mystery! The bitch has tan under her tail (anus).... Now
when I got her the tan anus was BLACK! Is she now a
bi-color? Did she join a gang, and get a tan tattoo ? What
in the wide world of sports is going on here? "Me"
is very very confused! Maybe it's her diet.. lol FB
