What does "looked too muscular" have to do with the breed ring? In any breedthe
breed ring is to reward superior breeding stock - type and
structure. Conditioning is the icing on the cake. The Mal standard calls for a
wellmuscled dog; so many are not. The Broadcreek dogs are renowned fortheir
excellence so when someone makes a comment like this, just smileand thank him
for his (obviously novice) opinion.

I recently had someone tell me that bitch looked too muscular to be in the
breed
ring and that she looked more like a performance dog because of her muscular
body. I am talking about my Belgian Malinois that finished her championship at
8
months old and was in the top 10 for 2 years and went Best of Opposite at
Westminster in 2007 and has had many Group Placements, all owner handled. I
haven't had her out in awhile and we are getting ready to go back in the ring
and have some fun and perhaps become a Grand Champion.
I guess my question is; is it possible to be too physically fit? She is
a beloved house dog first, but just happens to run up & down the hill in our
yard chasing squirrels & bunnies. I have never done any road work or any
conditioning with her, it's just the way she is.
Any suggestions or ideas on what to reply?
