Have you noticed that as soon as you stop campaigning a dog, his nail quit
growing! While'st (love that "word") showing, they grow an inch-a-week.

Interesting to read this..
My personal experience though - most dogs don't have much pain in the nail -
watch a dog pull a nail out of his foot and you will know what I mean. Most
dogs have a problem with the restraint of having their nails done.
I have also found that in most breeds I have dealt with, puppies are the
worst at about 4 months for wiggling, squirming, biting, etc. That is
usually the age the owners give up.
I tell the owners to stick it out and even get in the pup's face and by
about 6 months, the pups are over it and are fine about nails...
We also use the treat method - do nails, get a cookie - my dogs, both GSDs
and Dals stand in line to have their nails cut. Stella the Cavalier (my
boss' dog) sees the nail clipper and jumps up on my lap cause she knows the
cookie follows...
And I have heard some pretty harsh criticism for the Pedicure (gotta avoid
calling it the PediFILE).. Give me a good old fashion nail clipper any day.
