I wonder about that. I have a brother/sister, litter mates. Her nails grow quickly, his doesn't. I use a dremel so I know how close I'm getting to the quick. And again, one of my dog's nails are so sensitive that even getting close to the quick hurts. Another one, I have to watch to make sure I don't "quick" him... he doesn't seem to have the same pain threshold.
