And that is what we need; a data base that has all the info; not just the
"PASSED" test; keep it up to date; these test are pictures in time and that is
important.

Okay -
Let me do a little information here:
With Dalmatians, CHIC #'s are very, very popular. CHIC is ONLY a database for
storing information - it doesn't matter whether or not the dog has a health
problem. If you test a dog for Thyroid at 2 years of age, and then at 4 years
of age and find it has changed, you can document that in the database - it is
NOT an all or nothing. There are what is called owner notes. The requirements
for Dals are hips, ears, eyes or thyroid. If you have a dog who say comes up
with an inturned eyelash when having eyes cleared, you can document all of that
information in the database in the "Owner Notes" area.
If in GSDs you are brave enough to put all of your information up there and you
have a dog that is slightly dysplastic and then has had all the other health
testing, you can still get a CHIC #. All the number does is PROVES your dog has
had the appropriate testing.
Dal people are pretty open about including all the various information. What I
am curious is to see if GSD people, who spend alot of time worrying about what
everyone else thinks, are brave enough to use the database the way it is
supposed to be used.
Good luck and I hope you use it.... In DCA we have all sorts of things attached
to getting your CHIC # including if the sires and dams of Futurity pups have a
number or when doing ads in our National magazine, if you have a CHIC #, you
