Great news. The California Federation of Dog Clubs the preeminent umbrella
group for the dog fancy in California has allied itself with PetPAC. CFODC

with Save Our Dogs, and many other groups who have decided to create One
Voice for Success against AB 1634 and other anti-pet ownership groups.

incorporated as a 501c3 in 1991. We applied for an exemption to that tax
status in 1996 I think it was, to use 20% of our total income to lobby. I
have been involved/on the BOD since its inception. We have ALWAYS said NO

introduced that outlawed hunting black bears with dogs. We checked it
out, found that there had only been 5 permits issued each of the previous

organization RDOGS as it was waning and CFODC was rising; NAIA, helped out
a year or so ago in defeating the AB2110, the open field coursing bill. We
were instrumental in defeating Herschel Rosenthal's proposed statewide
breeder's license back in the 90's. Even though over the last several years
we haven't had as much support by the dog fancy in CA as we might hope, we
were still there behind the scenes plugging away..opposed SB161, opposed
AB861, opposed PAWS, for which our link was taken off AKC's website along
with all the otherstate federations that opposed it. (It's now back on
their site.) We've been in the fight for a long time. Our name is known in
Sacramento. We've re-allied ourselves with Bill Hemby via his new PAC -
PetPAC and will most likely have one of our BOD on his advisory committee.
We intend to cooperate with and help AKC defeat this bill.NO COMPROMISE!
This is a bad bill. We just need to persist and defeat it. The more
people, clubs and organizations under one umbrella, the bigger the impact
we'll have. And we can even put out the word before the nextelections. We
helped do that in the last elections and helped get 3 AR leaning
legislators out of office. Which reminds me, if you're not a registered
voter, get registered NOW! Your personal letters of opposition can say
"I'm a registered (party) and I vote in District #..." , politician's get
nervous when their constituents aren't happy. Even if your own
assemblyperson isn't on this committee write to them expressing your
opposition to this bill. Write your state senator too. So join us, we're
here to stop AB1634 and any other legislation that comes down the pike
that seeks to take our dogs away from us.
