That's the best way to do it. Unfortunately I have a lazy boy, who watches the
ball go past, while my other gsd spins around the yard :(

Recently I was asked what I do to condition my Belgian Malinois because she is
in such incredible shape. This little girl is 54 pounds of muscle. When I
replied, "Nothing", they looked at me like I had 3 heads, my reply was "she
does in herself", she runs and plays with my two GSDs in the back yard. Yes, I
throw toys for them and they chase after them, but mostly she conditions
herself. This dog can run and play forever. Right now she and my male GSD are
having a "wrestling match" in the living room as it is 90 Degrees outside. If I
put her outside, she would still run like crazy even in the heat. She goes for
several walks a day in addition to her playing, but that is just because she
enjoys walks. I had a judge recently tell me, that he has never seen a Malinois
in such fantastic shape. He commented that many show dogs spent too much time
in crates and runs and don't have the opportunity to be "just dogs" and play,
which is what helps build up
stamina.
