Aha, I like this!! It's been far too long to be the way it is and it does,
at times -- ---
seem a bit unfair. However, we DO need to have a "system" for competition
as that
is what it is all about -- to encourage folks to bring out their dogs to
allow everyone
to see how really good they are (the dogs not the folks - Ha!) This
reminds me so
much of one of the most important lessons I learned as a young
Whippersnapper --
My history teacher told us that -- "The only unchanging thing IS change
itself"!
Not real sure what the Canadian system is, but let's put our heads together
and see
about making it more than just Canada since it is a viable way. Norma

AKC needs to wake up and get rid of Majors!...they really don't mean much
these days anyway....years ago how many dogs were needed to make a major?

This is something I have to agree with. I was raised with the Canadian
system and it worked well. I find this whole major issue a big one. Have
seen
people who will pull dogs to break majors just because they don't like the
person or dog that won on the other side and say the major is in bitches.
We
have all seen entries that fall to next to nothing because people enter
their
animal looking for that major, then pull when it does not make one. Gets
to
the point you don't want to through the money away on the entry to know
you
likely won't have that major to go to and stay home instead.
It makes for throw away shows, and as proven by the amount of people
showing
now, this does not work. The way to get AKC to re think the majors is to
have people put pressure on them.
How much more broken does this system have to get for you to try to insist
on changes? Molly
