The performance people surely don't work at our shows. However, rallybrings in 
a nice entry.

This has been a problem for years. We used to put on obedience at our  
shows. We would have 70 conformation people and five entries in obedience.   If 
we opened it to all-breeds we got a bigger entry, but had few people willing 
 to work the obedience rings. We have always brought the performance 
winners to  the conformation ring to show who won, but performance never asked 
who 
went BOB  or seemed to care.  It has always been one sided.
 
I can appreciate performance, and the hard work, dedication and enjoyment  
is tremendous. But, it is never the obedience people who ask to set up the  
obedience ring, who bring an announcer or who offer to bring the food or 
cook  the hot dogs.
 
I don't have the answer. I know performance seems to be growing in  
popularity, but it doesn't seem to bring in club members.  I sure would  like 
to 
find out who is going to support the clubs, other than  conformation.  So far, 
they seem to be all the workers. The advertisers in  the Review are 
conformation, and the obedience people only advertise in the one  month it is 
dedicated to them.
 
Each year I attend the San Gabriel Show, and they always have a good  
obedience entry. But, when I look, it is the conformation people who bring the  
trailor, setting up the rings, getting the judges there, and cleaning up  
afterwards.
 
Perhaps I am just missing something, (which is normal for me), but do  
obedience people work at clubs outside of California?
