That seems like a mistake to me. The reason for the three year rotation on
the National was to allow more people to judge our national, and to avoid
someone having too much influence over the breed. In Germany it is my
understanding that the president of the SV judges every year, so the person
who is
elected has a strong influence over the breed.
If correct, (and I have no reason to doubt the information), we lose two
good judges for our National. Of course, I am not even sure Bob Dresher and
Vickie Roye are judging the show at the National, or even that there is such a
show. I am not in the loop, and I haven't read the minutes yet. But, assuming
it is correct, the policy needs some reconsideration.
I will be interested to see if the show at the National works. I didn't
like the provisional OFA class, and evidently I have been proven right. I
don't
much care for the amateur class at the Futurities, but I guess that has not
yet been determined. I don't like to lower standards to fill a need, but I
might be wrong. Carol Moore is a strong supporter of the amateur Futurities,
and
I trust her judgment.
We will see what happens with the National dog show, before the National dog
show. Maybe it is a good thing.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.
