When my daughter was a baby, I would put her in an x-pen or a crate while I
was showing. A stroller was one too many things to bring to a show. This
would be seen as child abuse today. But, it worked. The x-pen was like a
playpen
and the crate had blankets and toys in it. She would be happily sleeping
with the dog til it was time to show. She was always with a dog so I never had
to worry about her being snatched or hurt. And, she was never in a situation
with an aggressive dog. I never really thought about a stroller being a hazard
then. But, I can see why it could be a problem. Not everyone at a dog show
is cognizant of the dogs they encounter. Many show people use Flexies and pay
no attention to their own dogs, let alone children. That is a bad mix.
I don't allow my dogs to wander or socialize at shows. They are there to
work. They are to be with me and listening to me at all times. After the show
is a different story and done on my terms. I want them to be good with other
dogs and let them play and be social when we aren't working and the other folks
are relaxed as well. I can also expose them to kids in strollers, disabled
people, joggers, bicycles, whatever. Now, a kid in a stroller with a pacifer
or something is good fun for them. If they encounter that at a show, they just
want to check out the baby. Unfortunately, too many people just don't pay
attention to their dog's behvior and problems happen. So, I wouldn't take a
chance today with a baby in a stroller. JMHO

Among the many brochures that AKC has available for people to pick up at
shows, they have one that specifically addresses strollers. Why not
strollers?
Because people with strollers can run over dogs tails. Some dogs are not kid
proof and the kids are at risk at a strollers height to get bit in the face.
These are two of the reasons (good ones in my eyes) why strollers are
discouraged or even disallowed at some shows.
