Like you Kay, we bred our AOE Sel. Exc. Utopia's Cliche at almost 5 yrs
old. She had a beautiful litter of 8, bred her again her next season and had
a litter of 10. She was the best mother to her puppies that we ever had.
We spayed her at 7yrs old. and she was 12 when she died.

My first champion and foundation birch was not bred until she was 4 1/2. I
was busy showing her in conformation and obedience. She had 6 pups and was
an easy whelper and great mother. After a year I bred her at 5 1/2 and
again whelped 5 pups easily. She then got her UD at age 7+.
Think it is important to look at the bitches dam and see if she was an
easy whelper and the over all health/stamina of the bitch that is being bred.
