Sally's comments remind me of an incidence at the National a few years back. I
walked up to a "Big Breeder" judge, GV breeder/owner, etc.. I had connections
to a bitch that had been bred to their current GV, so, I re-introduced myself,
there was no one else within earshot, and asked said stud dog owner if she/he
had any experience with a strange movement pattern I was seeing in a puppy from
that breeding. It was NOTHING horrible, just turned out to be a growth "stage"
thing; I doubt we were the only one seeing this. Stud dog owner looked at me
in total horror, said, "I don't know what you are talking about," and
fled...............EXIT STAGE LEFT!! Made me laugh, but, I thought, perhaps
this highly respected person isn't really as ethical, nor as candid, as one
would like to see??? Especially when one spent $$$$$$$$$$$ in shipping,
testing, and stud fee!! Makes you wonder what truly serious issues they hide.
These things were happening in the 70's and are, obviously, still happening
today.
It boils down to Caveat Emptor.

I agree with Kathy , Torsion, Intestinal torsion ,toxic gut do tend to run
in lines. Not always but if you watch and ask enough questions a pattern
will develop. of course there are always the isolated cases that do not fit
into this pattern.
The problem I have is with owners who "keep this knowledge" to themselves.
The stud dog owner who denies they have health problems - the bitch owner
who ask questions but never tells they have x problems behind their bitch-
as Kathy says it is just sticking your head in the sand
