I remember when Kurt and Adelle did the cross breeding, and I talked to
Adelle at the time. She told me she intended to take a bitch from that
breeding,
breed it back to top American lines, hold out a bitch from that litter, to
breed back to an American line, then keep the best bitch to breed to the best
American bred dog, and hope to get a superstar.
I never did comment of that approach. But, now they have their superstar,
and she is just great. I don't know if there is any German in her, I haven't
been able to get a long enough pedigree to find out.
It you have to work that hard to breed away from what you are doing, I
suspect it might be better to not do it in the first place. I see nothing
wrong
with combining lines, countries, or even species. All you need do is decide
what you are trying to get, and then go for it.
By the way, I am not sure combining species is legal outside Alabama.
