A "different definition"? I did mean "use".... <G>
Please do Check your records....as some people thought Nyx
was a white because of a bad washed out photo of her that was
used once in an article that incorrectly referred to her as a
white GSD. She was absolutely not white. Not even close.
Faded...yes
Even Mr. Brackett once expressed that he did not like her lack
of depth of color.
Some of his litters did produce white. It was a problem for
many breeders during those days before the DQ. Many were
getting whites in their litters unexpectedly and not planned.
Sadly...they were referred to as "bucket" puppies. The
animosity over this was a problem and that was the beginning
of the demand for a DQ.

Lloyd did use at least one white bitch in his program (to paraphrase): she
never did produce a white pup no matter who she was bred to, though her not
white sisters did... I have to find the article/book page where that is
quoted directly, but have to get to the bank while it is open today.
And, he got quite his fair share of white puppies, most likely for using
white bitches in his breeding program, and applying his breeding philosophy
in his own kennel.
