[ SHOWGSD-L ] ] Bone spurs

I recently expereinced this one of my pups I sold. He OFAed pre-limed both
ends, and a few WEEKS later was limping in his front leg. Owners thought he
may have injured himself Did an xray, and the xray changed from the original
OFA xray. Vet said he was dysplaxtic and needed surgery to have the piece
removed. Sent NEW xrays ito be read AGAIN by OFA, since it semed strange he
OFAed normal less than 3 weeks prior, and xrays changed that fast. OFA said he
had a bone spur which is common just not seen tha often in elbiws, and they
would still consider his elbows normal. OFA said it is nothing to worry about.
Due to being lame, his owners went to University for 3rd opinion. University
agreed w/ original vet that the "bone spur" in ther elbow is a form of
Fragmented Cornea Process (which is suppose to occur more often in male dogs
than females). His owner opted to have the "bone spur" removed, and the dog is
fine now, and is doing very well.
If you learn anything about bone spurs and elbows, please share. Since this
is totally new to me, and makes me wonder who was right..OFA or the reg vet??
And how many dogs out there xray normal, and elbows develop these "bone
spurs"changes within a few weeks time.
