I did the hour drive to town today and my ballot was there in the big city of
Redmond Oregon. I voted for the judge of my choice. I only voted for one so
they
get the total power of my first vote. I then voted for three people I know
would
do a good job on the board. I put my ballot in the secrecy envelope then in the
posted envelope an gave it to the nice lady behind the counter. I then turned
around and drove 1 hour back to the cabin in the woods.
Moral please take the time to vote and please educate yourself before you do.

I received the ballot and have voted.
I am struck by the fact that there are two offices not opposed, and only
ten people willing to serve on the board.
It may be due to the current hostilities, or just a result of the economy
and people are too busy to donate their time to the GSDCA. I do know that
of the twelve people on the ballot each and every one of them has my
respect, and admiration for being willing to donate their time and
energies for no
reward.
I was only able to vote for four board members, as I tried to pick those
who I felt would not only do a good job for the club, but would work
together
with the rest of the board.
With only ten people willing to serve, it might be time to reduce the
number of board members. We have plenty of people willing to serve on
committees, and to donate time to the club, but not willing to be elected
to the
board. With that in mind, this board should consider a change in the
by-laws to
reduce the number of board members to six or seven. In doing that, it
would be as current terms end, and then only elect new members for the
new
term. It would have to go to the membership, but with the reduced income,
that
would be a solution to the expenses of the board.
Think when you vote, this year we will be working towards the World
Trials,
and it is important to protect the breed, the club and the membership.
Vote for those who you believe will do what is right, and only for those
people.
