It is extremely expensive to get from the AIRPORT (the hotel is 5 minutes from
it) to Purina
And Purina is booked on Weekends with dogs shows, so there is probably no place
to have a
meeting
If you read the minutes, the first three places we tried were Utah, Colorado
and Arizona for 2017.
The only affordable place available was Reno. The vote to stay in Purina after
Reno, was done
PRIOR to the Board learning that Reno could not work.
I am certain that by rotating Board meetings (not any more expensive than going
to St Louis) and
meeting with Club members and trying to find something more western for a
National is a good
idea. I am fairly certain that some of these votes will be revisited.
As for the German held show at Purina it was not before the National, but
during. It made money
I believe the Treasurers reports are online in the Members section
The Lawsuit is also there in the Members section. The WDA sued us. We paid the
deductible to
the insurance company which was SIGNIFICANTLY less than what the WDA was suing
for. If
memory serves me, the amount they sued for they did not have receipts - and the
IRS requires us
to have receipts. If there is no news on the website, it means status quo.
Be patient and allow this new Board to get up to speed - they have not met yet.
I could fly to most places (except Reno) for less than St Louis. Rotating
meetings is NOT more
expensive - it would be the same. If I flew into Reno Friday my ticket was $500
more than if I flew
in on Thursday. I shared a room to save Money at Meetings as did many others.
If a site costs 100K and only 20% of the membership can get to the site, there
is no chance on
making money.
The cost of the site is NOT the only factor that was considered, we also
considered what that site
could bring in as income.
