Yes, less people on the board. Nineteen people, that is ridiculous. I know
there is going to be a gradual lessening - but how did we get this many in
the first place?

I have attended Board meetings for years and I find that Frank does A most
professions job.
You all need to remember that the board is comprises of 19 opinionated and
passionate people.

We attended the Jan 2012 meeting in San Diego. It was very well run, and
Frank Fasano even hired
a Parliamentarian at his own expense to make sure things went well and
correctly. Good move.
There were outbursts and disruptions..
some quite nasty and embarrassing..but it came from only one or two
people.....and it happened routinely.
They were rude , snarky and wholly unprofessional and yes the gavel came
down b/c enough is enough. I will not say publicly who it was..but they
embarrassed themselves and everyone in the audience...Other than 2
individuals, it went smoothly.
Let me be clear Frank has a very good handle on the proceedings..no
question...the meeting went very well . We were there for Saturday and
Sunday. That being said, you cannot always control adults that insist on
acting as insolent over indulged petulant children as these two ,
individuals did, and apparently are still doing...ugh.
Before we hang the Board in effigy, maybe more members should attend when
they can? I was amazed how FEW
people from California or Southern California were there.
This Board has been handed a club that has huge issues with upcoming large
events... there is not an easy answer. We also
have a serious need to bring in new people...in ANY venue..the club won't
survive without replenishing/building members, growing revenue ..and fast.
As far as the Standard, we are seeing a Board that is willing to explore
things..which is good...it doesn't mean it will come to pass, or that any
of the Board members would want to rush to change the Standard. Why the
panic???? Where is Henny Penny and Turkey Lurkey ? LOL
I can say that at the Board Meeting we attended I saw the vast majority of
the Board get more done on those days, than I have ever heard about in the
last few years, when things were "tabled" constantly. You don't have to
take my word, go back a few years..and read the minutes for
yourselves.......The Board worked HARD and it even included a lengthy
presentation by Finance, which was brilliantly done and well received, and
a joint meeting with our friends in the WDA for which we were also
present..and then stepped into the next room for the WDA meeting as we are
members...all good.
Go to a Board meeting.. if you have the opportunity. I think you will be
pleasantly surprised...
