talk about books read as a child: (besides Black Beauty, which made me
cry the very first time I read it, and every time after that, too)

Call of the Wild (first time I ever heard about fighting dogs for "fun")

Bambi's Children (much better story than Bambi)
and Animal Farm....which I thought was a story about animals and
lliked until they hauled the horses (Boxer and ???) away --
didn't realize it was about communism / socialism until I was
in high school!
...................I read them all over and over and over and over.........
