I first saw BOSS in San Diego at the National.
I have told this story before, but I think this may be a good time to tell
it again.
I was at the national and sat in the bleachers next to Carolyn and The Boss.
This was before he went Grand Victor. I put my right arm around The Boss
and was talking to Carolyn. She looked at me and asked, "Are you sure you want
to do that?"
The Boss always was his own dog. He knew who he would tolerate and who he
wouldn't. I looked into his eyes, from a foot away. I saw what I wanted, and
told Carolyn, "He said it was just fine." And, we went on talking. I doubt
Carolyn even remembers that day, but it stood out in my mind, because I have
always been such a fan of The Boss.
There were two dogs that I have known that when I looked into their eyes, I
knew what was going on in those heads. It may sound silly, but only two German
shepherds have shown me that. The Boss has been one of them. You can see
some thought process going on, and it is like looking into the eyes of a
person. I can't explain it more than that, but I know something is different.
He is a special animal, and it is good to hear he is joining the 13 club.
