I woke this morning and walked two dogs at four in the morning. It got me to thinking about why I enjoy dog shows, and I decided to share it. It just makes me happy. I enjoy being able to walk to any group, sit down and listen to what people have to say, hear a new joke, or tell one. That makes me happy. I like being able to see a nice dog and say so, that makes me happy. I enjoy comments like Bob Gheleri made when he congratulated me on keeping Summer on Kirk, that made me happy. I grinned to see Jacqualine, (Summer's Mom), cry when Summer won her class, and then again when she won the points. That made me happy. I loved the look on Tom Philliponts face when he saw his bitch in the ring, that made me happy. I like that for a couple of days, our worries about bills, health, kids, and problems melt away, and for just a while, we have a distraction that makes us smile. That makes me happy. I enjoyed sitting and listening to the exchange of ideas last night, a few jokes, jibes, jabes, and sarcasm, that made me happy. I loved when Michele took time to come talk to Summer about when he was a kid, and started to show dogs, that made me happy. The smile from ear to ear on Summer's face, that made me happy. Getting so many congratulations and knowing the wins are shared with friends who cannot be here, that made me happy. I know Jane Kerner was smiling, knowing she sent us Honey Be Good, and it all started there, that made me happy. Seeing Bob Funk come to ringside, with more strength than he had the last time I saw him, that made me happy. Knowing that today is another day, and that I will have fun, no matter what happens, that makes me happy. Watching Tom and Vivian Brown walking hand in hand. That makes me happy. Watching a club like this one come together to put on a weekend with events, a seminar, a great show, good food, and friends. That makes me happy. Seeing the smile on Summer's face when she called her Dad, or when The Guz mentioned her, or when other handlers come to congratulate her. That makes me happy. Knowing that for a couple of days about 100 people can come together to enjoy the great weather, the good friends, and a common interest. That makes me happy. Winning made it fun. The rest is what made me happy. Evan L.
