how it is today.
It isn't different as to the people, the costs have changed. We used to be
able to spend a hundred dollars for a weekend, and now if you show both days,
it can be four times as much. Maybe some are earning more, but not those
entering the job market.
It has always been that some are too involved to talk to the new people, but
I am the same today as I was twenty years ago, and always tried to spend
time with the new folks. The big difference is the costs in time and money to
show dogs, or anything else as far as that goes. People are the same, some
great, some good, and few jerks.
All activities such as the Elks, the Boy Scouts, dog shows, etc. have
dropped membership.
It will come back, and we might even see it. We need to continue to spend a
minute to talk to new people, to continue to have fun, and to always realize
this is a sport to have a good time. In the last few shows, Sharlonna loaned
me a lead, to compete against her in the same class. Debbie Freidberg
shared my salami sandwich with me, and we had bitches competing in the show.
We
are here to have a good time, and I do. That is what we have to show everyone.
Tomorrow is a great show, with a five point major. Then Sunday another. We
showed in San Jose Three weekends ago, the next weekend in San Diego. Then we
headed to Sacramento, this week in Orange County. Next week it is Phoenix,
then back to Los Angeles for two more shows and a match.
How can you have more fun than that?
