the Raiders are still in the hunt to compete for the Super Bowl ( no they
won't get there) so technologically there is a small chance they could go
and win, forcing me to run for the board.... here is what I'd do if I were a
board member!
1. Honor and publish the names of ALL lifetime members in the Review
yearly!
There will be less and less of us as the years go by, so this won't take a
lot of space.
2. Work to establish real term limits
We could vote each year on half the board, and vote back in only people we
want.
3. Motion to contribute funds to Evan's National Junior Fund
Now, that is a great idea. But, I continue to rely on the kindness of
strangers. Does anyone else remember the dress Carol Burnette made out of the
curtains?
4. Conduct surveys of members on important issues i.e White dog, standard
changes/issues
They did that. But, they would have to listen to what the members said.
Now, that would be a change.
5. Get the National OUT of St Louis and back on rotation!
Someone needs to die, and contribute $1,000,000 to the club. Maybe Ed
would agree to do that rather than run for the board.
6. Evaluate and restrict the use of "closed session" ( I would refuse to
attend the closed sessions that I thought were BS)
That won't work, they are all BS. There is nothing done in our club from
which the members should be excluded. If you won't do it in the light of
day, don't do it. Unless you are a vampire, then you get an exclusion. But,
since you live forever, we have to reconsider #2 for you.
7. Establish a bi-annual GSDCA Symposium/Seminar
Good idea, and pay for the location by the number of people who come. In
that way we could get it for free.
8. Get the meetings back to teleconferencing were ever possible
At least four more people would listen in. Why not just do the meetings
by phone, and only have those who gave a shit sit in.
9. Set-up and send out a questionnaire to all candidates running for the
board and post the comments in the member-only section on the Parent website
Unless the candidates are ashamed of who and what they are, (pedophiles
excluded), put it on a public forum. Maybe if people knew what stellar
individuals we had on the board, we would build the membership.
10. Have a joint GSDCA GSDCC specialty show weekend in large cites that
border both
countries I.e. Seattle Washington and Vancouver/Surry Canada
Great idea. That would bring in the members from Seattle, Vancouver. That
would be about 10 people. Isn't that called a German shepherd specialty
show?
11. Encourage ALL board members to communicate and participate on "the
List"
I am sure if they had anything to say, they would. When everything is
going so well, what need is there for them to post? Linda does, but she is
unique. Thank god for unique, and Linda as well.
12. Build a wall, don't know why or where, but I'd build one and make
Penny pay for it!
We have walls. We refer to them as borders. I say build one between East
and West Germany, so we can know which dogs to buy.
