One of the reasons the yeses are winning is the wording. Who wants to
support supposed "dangerous breeds"? Far better if they had listed the
various breeds, instead of putting them all under one blanket. Doris E

If you read the story that goes along with the poll, the dogs that killed
the child weren't even purebreds. They were a mix of large, powerful
breeds,
and had been trained for hunting and killing pigs. These were NOT family
pets! Janice

Owner wants killer dogs destroyed

Friday Jul 21 06:18 AEST

The man whose family owned the three pig hunting dogs that killed a
four-year-old girl in central-western NSW says he wants the animals destroyed.

Dog owner Tom Wilson found Tyra Kuehne on Wednesday in his backyard in
Warren, near Dubbo, where he kept four cross-breed dogs trained by his sons.
The girl had been missing from her family home for two hours when she was
found at about 7pm (AEST) in her neighbour's backyard with severe injuries to
her head, neck and torso.
She was taken to Warren Hospital where she had a heart attack and died just
after 3am (AEST) on Thursday.

 Police said the girl had
climbed a small backyard fence then slipped through the wire door of the
enclosure before being attacked by three, and possibly four, of six pig
hunting dogs
held in the yard.
Mr Wilson said he was so devastated he surrendered the family's six
cross-breed mastiff, wolfhound and boxer dogs to police and wants them put
down.
"That's the only place for them after something like this," Mr Wilson told
The Daily Telegraph.
He said two of the dogs broke loose from their collars during the attack.
"They must have been excited," he said.
"These dogs are bred for pigs and that's why I say don't trust them."
However, Mr Wilson said he could not have predicted the attack as the dogs
had never attacked anyone in the past.
