An animal that lacks vigor and vitality whose eyes are not clear and bright who lacks physical strength is not one that should be awarded on the day. A judge should examine an animal thoroughly enough to tell if the tail or ears have been aaaaltered in anyway. they should feel for things such as umbilical hernias which my vet says they repair when they spay them.these are all clues to breed health. ************************************************************************* Norma Please refer me to the section of the standard about umbilical hernias. I missed that chapter when I took judging GSDs 101. Would you suggest we take a sample of hair and see if the dog has been dyed? There are sure some mighty bright colored dogs being shown.
