By the time someone runs for the position of officer for our PC, they've spent tens of years providing service to other clubs and they've earned the respect of their peers. That's background enough for me. It's quite a different situation when you go to work for a company and have to "prove" yourself to collect a pay check. That I totally understand and I don't have a problem with. In fact, whenever I pick up a new carrier (insurance company), I sign a consent for a credit check and criminal background check to be run.
