We just got a notice from the Red Book Chair that our G.V.AOE CH. Mar
Haven's Color Guard ( BOSS )
made the Red Book this year...his first time since 2007......from
three frozen semen litters.
He has been gone since 2007.
The funny thing is that we have not used any frozen sperm from him
since everything we have is already
linebred on him several times. G.V. Bono was inbred on him....(
Boss son to a Boss daughter ) our
G.Victrix Black Orchid was four times Color Guard....( similar
breeding ) and the last three Champions
we had in the last two years are 4 - 5 times BOSS... yet we have not
used the frozen ourselves.

I would suggest you who love Kate's Patent should get a couple of
straws from Kate and try linebreeding
on Patent. ( he would go good with your 'Ben stuff' Evan )

Patent was one of the great ones.
We have a number of straws from Big Ben. We just used a couple of
them, and have two puppies coming from one of our champion bitches.
It is after four and my brain is having a blockage, and I can't think
who it is.
But, if we didn't have the Ben sperm, I might want to get the Patent
straws.
I always was against using sperm from past dogs. I believe since we
breed each litter to better the lines, going backwards isn't such a
great idea. But,I guess there are exceptions.
I don't recall many great puppies using sperm from stud dogs over 10
years past. I am sure there are exceptions, but not enough to change
my mind.
Maybe one of the Ben puppies will blow my mind, what is left of it.
